Bacterial Vaginosis Treatment - This is Extremely Distrubing!

If you’re like me, you’ve been prescribed the antibiotic metronidazole, also known ad Flagyll, as a treatment for bacterial vaginosis. If you’re lucky, it worked for you the first time. But when it didn’t work, and you had to take it over and over again, your doctor insisted that it was because you were doing something wrong because otherwise the drug would work.

Which, I have to say, is insulting. Hello, I know you have to take all of the medication, even if the symptoms start to go away. Not to mention the fact that the symptoms haven’t gone away; the itching and smell? Yup, still there.

So, while reading up on possible treatments for bacterial vaginosis, I came across something quite disturbing. Metronidazole, the medication my doctor told me was the preferred treatment for bacterial vaginosis, was banned for use in animals in the EU because it had been proven to cause cancer.

Excuse me? So I can still take it, and thousands of doctors prescribe multiple courses of treatments to women like me with chronic bacterial vaginosis every day, but they can’t give it to animals? Because it might give them cancer? There’s something wrong with that, right there.

So I started to dig deeper into this, didn’t want to get freaked out about this without cause, hoping that maybe the article was misquoted. It turns out that metronidazole has been shown to cause both changes in genetic material and cause cancer in animals. While they haven’t found that it causes cancer in people yet, that might be because they haven’t done enough trials.

There are lots of drugs with harmful side affects, and yes, some can put you at a higher risk for certain kinds of cancer, but its an accepted and known risk. And if the metronidazole actually worked in a single dose the way my doctor insists it should, I wouldn’t have a problem taking it for a treatment of my bacterial vaginosis. In this case the risks aren’t worth it; why expose yourself to something linked with cancer multiple times, when it isn’t doing what it’s supposed to.

So I continued my efforts to find an alternative treatment for bacterial vaginosis, and I think that I finally found something that works. And not a cancer-causing drug in sight. Check out my “bacterial vaginosis relief” review, and I hope it can help you as much as it helped me.
